A STUDY IN ATMOSPHERE, MATERIALITY AND RESTRAINT

Not every venue requires more.
Some require precision.

At Bobèche, a basement cocktail bar beneath The Heritage, the objective was not to over-design, but to refine. To create a space where every element contributes quietly, yet unmistakably, to the overall experience.

This is where thoughtful interior direction becomes the difference between a venue that looks complete… and one that feels resolved.

"Bobèche is recognised as one of Perth’s most atmospheric cocktail bars, defined by dim lighting, rich textures and a sense of intimacy that unfolds as you move through the space .

Our role was to support this vision through carefully curated selections that would enhance, rather than compete with, the architectural and operational intent of the venue."
- Sharon Wiley, Lead Interior Designer, Seven Willow Designs

The Approach

Many hospitality fit-outs focus on visual impact. Fewer consider how a space feels over time.

Our approach centred on restraint and cohesion - ensuring each element worked as part of a unified composition rather than a collection of individual features.

Every decision was made through three lenses:

  • Materiality - how textures absorb, reflect and soften light

  • Durability - performance under high-volume hospitality use

  • Atmosphere - the emotional tone created through layering

The result is a space that doesn’t rely on a single focal point, but instead builds depth through consistency and detail.

Furniture Selection & Spatial Cohesion

Furniture was selected by Seven Willow Designs to anchor the space without overpowering it, balancing structure with softness.

  • Bentwood-style seating to introduce rhythm and repetition

  • Custom booth seating to create intimacy and enclosure

  • Table selections that provide visual clarity against richer finishes

Rather than drawing attention individually, each piece contributes to the overall flow of the room.

Booth Seating & Upholstery

Booth seating plays a critical role in how guests experience the venue.

  • Deep-toned upholstery to absorb light and enhance mood

  • Pleated detailing to introduce subtle texture and depth

  • Configurations designed to support both small groups and extended seating

These elements create a sense of privacy without isolating the space.

Surfaces & Finishes

Surface selections were intentionally restrained, allowing contrast to do the work.

  • Marble-look tabletops to introduce refinement and lightness

  • Brushed metallic detailing to subtly elevate the palette

  • Layered finishes that balance softness with structure

The result is a controlled interplay between light and shadow.

Flooring & Underfoot Experience

Often overlooked, flooring defines how a space is experienced physically.

  • Carpet selections to soften acoustics and enhance comfort

  • Tiling to provide durability in high-traffic zones

  • Pattern direction used to subtly guide movement through the space

This creates a venue that performs as well as it presents.

Our work is not for every project.

We collaborate with clients who understand that strong design isn’t about adding more, it’s about knowing what to leave out.

Whether you’re developing a hospitality venue, refining an existing space, or seeking a more considered approach to interior design in Perth, our role is to bring clarity, cohesion and direction.

If you’re planning a hospitality or commercial project and want a space that feels as considered as it looks, we invite you to get in touch.
